Retreat FAQ's

HOW DO I APPLY?
All applicants must go to "Tina's Place" Facebook or Twitter page and click on the appropriate LIKE/FOLLOW our page prior to proceeding to the application page using the "Application" tab provided above. Only applicants who have "liked/followed" our page and submitted a complete application will be considered for a stay at Tina's Place.

DO I QUALIFY FOR Tina's Place?
To enjoy a stay at our haven, patients must have a current diagnosis of Stage III or Stage IV melanoma and have had treatment within the past two years. Patients (or patient's guardian, in cases of pediatric melanoma) will be required to supply medical verification and clearance from their oncology healthcare team. Applications are NOT first to come first served. Applications are reviewed by an Application Committee for approval.

I WANT TO ATTEND TINA'S PLACE, BUT I'M UNSURE IF MY FAMILY CAN ATTEND FOR THE TIME SLOT GIVEN. SHOULD I APPLY?
Yes, please apply. Our goal is to give each family the opportunity to have as many days as possible. However, we understand that some families may not be available to use all of the dates we offer them. Once our families have been accepted, they will then have the opportunity to lock in the dates (within their pre-selected date range), that are best suited for them.

WHO CAN ACCOMPANY THE PATIENT TO TINA'S PLACE?
Tina’s Place can be attended by the patient's spouse and children under 18. In cases of pediatric melanoma, the patients must be accompanied by parent(s) and siblings under 18 are welcome. In special circumstances, we have evaluated individual requests, especially by our single guests. Please note: It is not our intention to offer Tina's Place as a reunion site for the extended family. Please do not apply if this is your intention.  No children over the age of 18 will be allowed.

*NO PETS ALLOWED

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST FOR A FAMILY TO ATTEND?
Our family haven is offered at no cost to participants. Travel to and from the cottage is the participant’s responsibility, along with food and any supplies not currently provided by Tina’s Place.

WHAT IF I CAN AFFORD ADDITIONAL VACATIONS?
While we do not restrict our guests to only those who have no other vacation options, we're especially eager to assist those families who have no other opportunity to escape the daily grind of melanoma treatment.

WHAT IS THE LONG-TERM GOAL FOR TINA'S PLACE?
Our hope is to continue working with the melanoma community to offer a place for warriors and their families to relax and reconnect.  In doing so, we plan to continue to promote public awareness of this deadly disease and help educate others about how to prevent it, the importance of sunscreen, and the need for personal and professional skin screening.

Tina’s Place reserves the right to fill dates and offer/rescind an invitation with or without explanation, cause, or reason.

"Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live."
